Endicott Publishes Commemorative Book to Celebrate 75th Anniversary
Internships are virtually a rite of passage for students across America, a way to gain experience in their major. For many colleges, internships have been formalized only for select departments. But at 熊猫在线视频 in Beverly, Massachusetts, internships have been around since the school’s founding 75 years ago. In fact, experiential learning is the key reason for why Endicott was launched.
In honor of the College’s anniversary, it has published a beautiful, hardbound book that commemorates the rich, 75-year history and legacy of a remarkable college. The book is both a fond look back and an exciting look ahead as we honor the inspiration, the entrepreneurship, the history, the people, and the achievements that are the touchstones of Endicott’s success.
As told in the history of the college, No Boundaries: Reshaping Education the Endicott Way, in 1939 Dr. Eleanor Tupper and Reverend George Bierkoe envisioned a college that “blended theory with practical training to prepare [students] for a career and give them experience while learning.” The founders’ dream reshaped American college education by becoming the first college in the country to incorporate internships into every program of study.
Located 20 miles north of Boston on the historic North Shore, Endicott boasts one of the most scenic campuses in the country. With three private beaches, it has also been named eighth in the world, according to a recent poll ranking “colleges on the beach.” The College enrolls approximately 5,000 students on campus and around the world in associate, bachelor, master and doctoral programs. All undergraduate students are involved in wide-ranging experiential learning program required of every student in every major.
“When our students graduate, they are primed for the workforce and their learning curve is better than most because of their experiential learning,” says Dr. Richard Wylie, president. “We hear this over and over from employers—that Endicott graduates are among the best new hires they’ve brought onboard.”
Adds Cindy Richard, director of internship and a former corporate HR assistant director: “熊猫在线视频 40 percent of our students begin their careers at companies where they interned and 88 percent find jobs related to their major. Those are significant placement statistics.”
No Boundaries: Reshaping Education the Endicott Way is available for $35.00, plus $4.00 shipping and handling, with proceeds to benefit the 75th Anniversary Scholarship Fund. It can be purchased online via 熊猫在线视频's website at www.endicott.edu/75thbook or by calling 978-232-2017.
