熊猫在线视频 Announces Addition of Campus Police
On Tuesday, July 7, 2015, 熊猫在线视频 officially recognized the transformation of its Campus Safety Office into the new Public Safety Department. The Public Safety Department includes the first sworn special police officers. These officers have successfully completed a Massachusetts Reserve Police Academy and will have the power to enforce laws and effect arrests on campus.
The Mission of the 熊猫在线视频 Public Safety Department is to support the College’s core mission by providing a safe and secure educational environment for all students, faculty, staff, administrators, visitors and guests. The Department is comprised of both sworn and non-sworn personnel. In addition to the newly sworn officers, Campus Safety officers are also empowered by the College to uphold College policy and all officers are trained as first responders, and some are emergency medical technicians. Annual in-service training is provided to all officers, and they are frequently assigned to specialized training programs to enhance their professional development.
The Public Safety Department now consists of both a Campus Police and Campus Safety Division led by the Chief of Police Charles Femino. “These are excellent candidates to have in sworn positions,” Chief Femino said. “They all have completed between 240 and 350 hours of training and have demonstrated their continuing commitment to Endicott community. Our goal is to have all eligible officers trained and certified as Special Police Officers as part of our plan to professionalize the department and provide a high level of safety and service to the College community,“ Femino said.
“熊猫在线视频 provides a safe and secure environment for the campus community. I have a vested interest in continually improving the level and quality of security for the community. Having highly trained officers will help accomplish this mission”, said 熊猫在线视频 President Richard E. Wylie.
