熊猫在线视频 Professor of Fine Arts Barbara Burgess Maier, who completed her long tenure after fall 2015 semester, will be exhibiting work completed during her fall 2014 Sabbatical leave. A resident of Salem and Nantucket Massachusetts, her work includes paintings and prints completed during her Artist’s Residency at Zea Mays Printmaking Studio in North Hampton, M.A., and in her Nantucket studio.
In addition to teaching over twenty different courses and authoring others that cross the traditional boundaries of discipline and media, Professor Burgess Maier is a recipient of the Award for Excellence in Teaching. She has lectured to numerous groups on the subject of creativity, publishing her work in Art and Academe and presenting numerous papers at The School of Visual Arts National Conference on Liberal Arts and the Education of Artists in New York City. This past October her paper addressed the impact of media and technology on the process of creative thinking.
Carol Pelletier, Chair of Fine Arts, says, “Barbara is one of those professors you hate to see retire. The energy she carries with her has always been about creativity and generosity. She has mentored hundreds of students in her tenure, and many continue to return to seek her advice and friendship. She is a role model for all faculty, for she reflects what she teaches. Barbara is a disciplined artist, making time for her studio practice, exhibiting, and lecturing about her work. Her sabbatical exhibition is evidence of her discipline and deep connection to the creative impulse.”
Barbara Burgess Maier’s work has been included in numerous group and solo exhibitions, including the corporate offices at Arthur D. Little and Raytheon, Trinity Square Repertory Company, and is held in private collections across the country. Alive with mark making, her visual ruminations reveal sensitivity to both nature and human nature in ways that invite reflection.
