熊猫在线视频 to Host Young Writers Workshop for Local High School Students
April 28, 2017
High school students with an interest in creative writing are invited to attend a Young Writers Workshop at 熊猫在线视频 on Saturday, June 24th and Sunday, June 25th. During the two-day workshop, participants will develop their writing skills in sessions focused on poetry, fiction and playwriting/screenwriting. The Workshop will be led by the College鈥檚 distinguished creative writing faculty members, including Charlotte Gordon, Dan Sklar and Elizabeth Winthrop.
Students who attend the workshop will create and refine new work, learn how to give constructive feedback to their peers, and receive tips on how to promote and publish their work. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will present their work publicly.
鈥淭he Young Writers Workshop is designed to nurture the students鈥 talent, help them find and refine their voice, and teach them technical aspects of writing that can make their work more compelling,鈥 said Dr. Mark Herlihy, Associate Dean, Arts & Sciences and Chair, Humanities. 鈥淲hile students will develop their own craft over the course of the weekend, they will also experience what it means to belong to a community of writers.鈥
Participants will be educated and guided by three Endicott faculty members who have established themselves in the creative writing world. Associate Professor School of Arts & Sciences Charlotte Gordon鈥檚 Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wallstonecraft and Mary Shelley won the 2015 National Book Critics Circle Award for Biography, and her Mistress Bradstreet: The Untold Story of America's First Poet, won a Massachusetts Book Award. Professor of Creative Writing Dan Sklar is a two-time winner of Endicott's Excellence in Teaching Award. His poems have been published widely and his plays have been staged at the Actors Studio of Newburyport and the Boston Theatre Marathon. Elizabeth Winthrop, Assistant Professor, English/Creative Writing, has published three novels: Fireworks, December and The Why of Things - and is revising a fourth.
The Workshop is open to students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2017. Participants age 16 or older are invited to stay overnight in a residence hall for a fee of $175. The fee for just attending the day sessions is $125. To register, visit: .
