Master of Science in Homeland Security Now Offering Specializations in Cyber Security and Emergency Management, Plus Online Courses

The Van Loan School at 熊猫在线视频 announces enhancements to its Master of Science in Homeland Security StudiesProgram. Starting this fall, students have the option of choosing a specialization in Cybersecurity or Emergency Management. The entire program is now also available 100% online.

 

In addition to the program鈥檚 nine core requirements, students will complete three courses in their chosen specialization.

 

Courses in the Cybersecurity specialization include Information System Hardware and Networking, Information System Security, and Cyber Analyst.  Upon completion of each course, a certificate can be attained that will be applicable and relevant to today鈥檚 job market qualifications.

 

Adjunct faculty comes to the program with real-world experience in the field: Justin Sultzbach, Analyst for the FBI, also served in the United States Air Force as an electronic systems security assessment analyst; Tom Doyle, Cyber Intelligence Analyst with the FBI and 20 year veteran of the Army Reserve where he served as a Military Intelligence Officer and Cyber Operations Planner; and Virgil Zaporteza, System Administrator for the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Systems and Architectures group at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory, and Intelligence Officer for the US Army Reserves.


鈥淐urrently in the United States there are more than 200,000 unfilled jobs in the cybersecurity field,鈥 said Director of the Homeland Security Studies Program Paul Joyce. 鈥淭here is a growing need for such expertise and our goal is to prepare graduates of our program to be a certified security analyst.鈥

Students in the Emergency Management specialization will complete course work in Leadership in Emergency Management, Response and Recovery, and Safety and Security in Planning and Operations for Special Events. Christopher Pope, former NH Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and Homeland Security Advisor to former Governor John Lynch, is leading this new specialization.

 

鈥淲e are seeing a growing need for professionals to hold expertise in the planning and preparedness of emergency management and response,鈥 said Assistant Director of the Homeland Security Studies Program Engrid Backstrom. 鈥淲e are dedicated to helping graduate students become leaders in this emerging field.鈥

 

Enrollment in the Homeland Security program is on a rolling basis with courses available this fall, starting in September.
