In Samuel Beckett’s tragicomedy in two acts, a pair of lost souls named Vladimir and Estragon wait by a lonely tree on a barren stretch of road to meet up with an enigmatic figure called Godot . Inhabiting a drama spun from their own consciousness, the result is a comical wordplay of poetry, dreamscapes, and nonsense, which has been interpreted as a somber summation of mankind’s inexhaustible search for meaning. Vladimir and Estragon hope that Godot will change their lives for the better, but instead two eccentric travelers arrive, one on the end of the other's rope. The results are both funny and dangerous in this existential masterpiece which has become a cornerstone of twentieth-century theater. Directed by Penny Singh.
