Endicott Helps Students Land Careers in Professional Sports Arena

A Leading Sport Management Program

Endicott’s sport management program offers access to internship sites such as the Boston Celtics, Burns Entertainment & Sports Marketing, Harvard University, IMG Worldwide Global Sports & Media, the New England Patriots, and Octagon Sports Marketing.

The program itself has gained worldwide recognition and remains an accredited program through the (COSMA), a specialized accrediting body whose purpose is to promote and recognize excellence in sport management education worldwide in colleges and universities at the baccalaureate and graduate levels.

Over the course of the program, sport management students learn how to analyze the issues and challenges in the field and develop strategies for overcoming them, all while mastering best practices of the sport management field through internship and professional experience.

The list goes on.

Take it from a sport management alumna.

She racked up kills and digs on the court, then she landed her dream job post-graduation.Lauren Sheehan ’18, asport management alumna, is carrying out her dreams in her first job with the  since graduating last May.

As a result of her networking through internship experiences while in the program, Sheehan is now living out her dream. She says, “Sport is an extremely small world and it really can come down to knowing the right people, so always take advantage of that and stay in contact with those people you meet."

Beyond her success as a senior captain, three-time Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference selection, and a member of two conference championship-winning teams on the volleyball court, Sheehan's resume boasts experience interning with reputable organizations such as the Boston Cannons, Boston University, and of course, the Boston Celtics.

Sheehan attributes her success in landing great internships to Assistant Professor of Experiential Learning and Internship Coordinator,Kevin Commette. She says of his support, "He was my go to the entire four years," says Sheehan. "If you're ever looking for opportunities, he will literally not stop until he helps you out.”

Sheehan's current job title is business development coordinator for the Thunder. In this role, she is responsible for creating TV and radio commercial logs to air during every broadcast, tracking TV and radio broadcasts to ensure they are adhering to the contracts of each partner, and monitoring monthly ad performance and ratings.

When it comes to game time Sheehan gets to be a part of the gameday atmosphere by hosting and escorting partnership clients to on-court promotions and making sure the entire partner activations aspect of gameday runs smoothly. Through this is an entry level position with the Thunder, Sheehan has been able to learn a lot about the many aspects that contribute to the success of a professional sports team.
