Meet Gully, Endicott鈥檚 New Mascot

There鈥檚 a new puffed chest at the Nest.

After graduating top of his class from the Mascot Academy, Gully had the world at his wings. He could have gone anywhere. He even took a gap year to travel the world, rubbing feathers with the biggest names out there—Tom Brady, international soccer stars, and mascots from across the globe. Call it charm, swagger, or rizz—Gully’s got it.

But when it came time to choose his next move, there was only one place he wanted to be. With his uncle’s retirement during the summer of 2024, Gully is now filling some big shoes at the Nest, ready to bring the energy, the spirit, and a whole lot of fun.

A Legacy of Spirit

The original Gully arrived at Endicott in the mid-90s, quickly becoming a beloved figure on campus. He brought school spirit to every game, event, and celebration for nearly three decades. But after a long and legendary career, Gully decided it was time to hang up his wings and enjoy some well-deserved R&R—retiring to sunny Florida (where, naturally, he's enjoying the warm weather and golf courses).

The History of Gully

Endicott has been represented by a gull since the college opened its doors in 1939. But it wasn’t until 56 years later that the mascot Gully was officially hatched. It was in the fall of 1994 that Endicott switched from an all-girls school to a coeducational setting. The athletics department, along with student life, wanted to work together to celebrate a new start. They devoted days to designing the new mascot, from the colors, to the size of the beak, to whether or not to include a cape. Once they finalized the design, they wanted to create a full student experience around the rebranding, and introduce him to the Nest in a most dramatic fashion. Enter, the egg.

At a basketball game in February 1995, a giant wooden egg was lowered from the rafters of the old Bierkoe Gymnasium at halftime, spurred on by Endicott’s previous gull mascot. The lights lowered momentarily and Gully, as we know him today, "hatched" from the egg, much to the excitement of the cheering crowd. This introduction of a new, updated mascot was significant as it came at a time when Endicott and its athletics were looking to rebrand and re-energize the community. It was a celebration of a new start and a way to rebrand the institution, emphasizing the importance of athletics and academics at Endicott.

Today, our beloved Gully mascot is updated once again to energize our campus, providing a fun, spirited, and dynamic image for everyone in the Endicott community to rally around.
