New Academic Building
Endicott’s newest academic building is set to open ahead of schedule in December 2020. Surprisingly, the pandemic improved construction timelines, as the quiet summer allowed crews more freedom and access to campus. The new cafe, meeting space, and large lecture hall are highly anticipated.

Pack the Stadium
To raise money for Endicott Athletics and to help show support to student-athletes, the Gull Club ran the Pack the Stadium promotion September through November. Raising $38,000 for athletics, fans purchased 768 cardboard cutouts of the Gull, which were placed in the Melissa Hempstead ’69 Stadium as stand-ins for the enthusiastic fans who couldn’t support athletics in person due to COVID-19 restrictions.

COVID-19 Testing
Endicott has invested more than $3 million this year to ensure a safe return for students, faculty, and staff. A large portion of that was to provide everyone on campus with access to free, speedy COVID-19 testing through a partnership with The Broad Institute.

Mural Arts
In a post-graduate internship over the summer with Mural Arts of Philadelphia, Art Therapy alumna Danielle Mann ’20 joined two teams of artists to create large scale murals. Here, she worked with head artists Patrick Dougher and Josh Sarantitus on a railway enhancement project. Mann says, “It may be hard work, but the positive response from the locals of the area made it so worthwhile and fulfilling. When we were tired, their words constantly reminded us why we were creating the mural, and often showed us the transformative power of art.”

Virtual & Augmented Reality
Fall 2019 pilot course Storytelling Using Virtual & Augmented Reality (DM 377) introduced Endicott students to an in-depth look at creating narratives through virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). The class included a group project creating an interactive virtual tour of the Cape Ann Museum’s Elias Davis House.

12 Hours of LIGHT
Each year the Office of Community Service plans 12 Hours of LIGHT to commemorate September 11, with service and kindness-spreading events in honor of those who heroically served, and in remembrance of those lost in the September 11 terrorist attacks of 2001. This year, events shifted heavily toward remote and virtual, and included preschool story time with Beverly Children’s Learning Center, a remembrance ceremony, meal packaging, blanket making, dessert delivery to local first responders, and random acts of kindness throughout the community.

Cape Ann Shoreline Goes International
This summer, School of Visual & Performing Arts adjunct faculty member Meg Black was invited to feature her painting 'Cape Ann Shoreline' in the U.S. Embassy residence in Belgrade in 2021. Black is one of six American artists chosen to be included in the special collection exhibit, representing American seascape artists to diplomats from around the world. She uses a unique process that mimics 16th century Venetian artists who painted on canvases of shipping vessels; by beating natural fibers into thick coats of pulp and using pigmented, light-fast colors, Black mimics the rich hues of nature in her art.

Cummings Foundation Grant
In June, Endicott was awarded an early decision grant of $300,000 over 10 years from the Cummings Foundation’s $20 Million Grant Program. The grant will enable the Colin & Erika Angle Center for Entrepreneurship to drive expansion of innovative entrepreneurial education for nonprofits and for-profit ventures in the community, including Spark U, a leading-edge entrepreneurial boot camp, and Spark Tank, the North Shore’s largest business pitch competition.
